The Living Earth

We’ve heard a lot over the past couple of decades about the Gaia Hypothesis — the idea that the Earth itself is a living, growing being. And this seems to jibe with what many ancient traditions seem to be saying in one way or another. How do we see this? Do we have a sense of the Earth as a living being? How does it — or should it — affect our attitudes toward the environment?
